I am my Beloved's, & his desire is toward me.


Come my Beloved, let us go forth into the field let us lodge in the villages.


Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the wine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, & the pomegranates bud forth: There will I give thee my loves.


The mandrakes give a smell, & at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new & old, which I have laid up for thee, o my Beloved. - Song of Solomon 7:10-13




& Ra'chel said, God hath Judged me, & hath also heard my voice, & hath given me a son: Therefore called she his name Dan.


& Bil'hah Ra'chel's maid conceived again, & bare Jacob a second son.


& Ra'chel said, with great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, & I have prevailed: & she called his name Naphtali. - Genesis 30:6-8




& Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, & found mandrakes in the field, & brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Ra'chel said to Leah, give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.


& she said unto her, is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? & wouldest thou take away my sons mandrakes also? & Ra'chel said, therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son's mandrakes.


& Jacob came out of the field in the evening, & Leah went out to meet him, & said, thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. & lay with her that night.


& God hearkened unto Leah, & she conceived bare Jacob a fifth son.


& Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: & she called his name Issachar.


& Leah conceived again, & bare Jacob the sixth son.


& Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons; & she called his name Zebulun.


& Afterwards she bare a daughter, & called her name Dinah. - Genesis 30:14-21
